LIFE CHANGE HAPPENS IN THE CONTEXT OF RELATIONSHIPS
We believe that people of all ages benefit from connecting with one another and encouraging one another in our individual and collective walk with Jesus. Our church cultivates an #churchfamily mentality, and it's not unusual to see people enjoy fellowship before AND after services. Often, our people hang around and don't just take off after the service is over. Young and "old" interact with one another in the same way a large family would.
Relationships also have the opportunity to go deeper through fellowship outside of service times. Examples include Freedom Groups, #servemauldin opportunities, and church family fun.
Freedom Groups have one simple purpose: to bring people together. We believe God created us to live in relationship with others and only then can we live the full life He intends for us. Freedom Groups are small groups designed to create community within our church family and help lead everyone to take their next step in their relationship with God as we Eat Together, Play Together, Pray Together, and Grow Together. Sharing life through community is part of our design, but meaningful relationships aren’t always easy to find. Freedom groups are our vehicle for building relationships and fostering spiritual growth – and we like to have fun, too!
Depending on the season and safety considerations, Freedom Groups may be more formally announced, or may organically form as people start to get together as they feel comfortable. For example, our ladies currently have an opportunity to gather for lunch monthly, and from that, a group began to get together for Bible study.
Sometimes group activities or occasional invitations for certain activities are announced such as prayer, Top Golf, bowling, par 3 golf, lunch after church, crafting, etc. We occasionally host classes by The River Upstate which also gives our people an opportunity to learn together, and sometimes have dinner together beforehand.
Freedom Church regularly offers opportunities to give tangible items and/or participate in specific initiatives meant to bless our church home's city of Mauldin, SC. From gathering food to help stock another local church's food bank to delivering goodie bags to city employees, you'll have a variety of means by which you can reach out to those who reside and work in Mauldin. We want Mauldin to feel loved and glad we are here and the fellowship we build with one another doing it is a bonus!
From time to time, we initiate churchwide fun elements to continue to build a family feel. Our annual Superbowl contest, occasional food truck lunches, Freedom Family Facebook group interactions, surprise treats, and "Wear (certain color/team shirt/dressy clothes)" Sundays are examples of activities we encourage that contribute to a feeling of warmth, inclusion, and enjoyment of one another.
